at .  Updated at .

We love when a TV series gets all twisty, but only if it's done right.

To that end, we've picked some really awesome plot lines from 2015 that kind of left us reeling.

Did we see the writing on the wall for these stories coming? No, no we did not, and we loved the shows all the more for delivering.

If you're looking for the not so elegant plot twists...they're coming soon. For now...

Check out our staff picks for Best Plot Twists of the Year!

1. The Vampire Diaries - Caroline is Pregnant with Alaric's Babies!

Caroline discovers she's pregnant on The Vampire Diaries – with Alaric's twins! They had to work in Candice King's real life pregnancy, and there just so happened to be a couple of twins left behind in Jo's womb when she was killed at her own wedding. Months later it was discovered Caroline had them all along but they were masked by way of yet another spell. Oh the spells! Pretty cool, actually.

2. Wayward Pines - Hello, It's 4028!

Wayward Pines Season 1 Episode 5 revealed that it is actually the year 4028 and civilization has died out. Life as these characters knew it no longer existed and the only thing that waited for them beyond the town walls were mutated versions of people who would kill them if they left. Only the children were allowed to know the truth, because the adults couldn't handle it. Definitely did not see that coming.

3. Supernatural - Um...That Wasn't God, Sam

On Supernatural, Sam was seeing visions of Lucifers cage in Hell. Sam thought it was God giving him clues on how to defeat the Darkness. With Crowely and Rowena's help, Sam goes to talk to Lucifer to ask him about the Darkness. During the chat, Sam is suddenly zapped into Lucifers Cage and Lucifer tells Sam that the visions were coming from him! God was never helping Sam and now Lucifer wants to use Sam as his vessel again.

4. Dark Matter - Six's Betrayal

Six's betrayal on Dark Matter. Up until the Season 1 finale, Six had always seemed like a good guy, probably the nicest member of the crew. So no one saw it coming when he revealed himself to be the traitor and turned them over to the Galactic Authority. But is there some deeper plan in play? It's an intriguing turn of events that makes you wish Season 2 would come sooner.

5. Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce - Let's Stay Married and Try Again!

Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce Season 1 led us to believe Abby and Jake were heading to divorce, but their chemistry was burning to bright it was really hard not to wonder if they might have missed something when they made their decision. Still, they plowed through, fully entrenched in their lives without each other. Until Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce Season 1 Episode 13 when they got together to sign the divorce papers. It didn't happen. The considered Jake and Abby 2.0 and that's exactly where we are now in Season 2. Heck of a twist for a show about divorce!

6. The Affair - Three out of Four Characters At the Murder Scene!

The Affair Season 2 threw at us Scotty's killer in the finale, and after two seaons of trying to plot who did it, the real culprit was a complete surprise. However, the real twist was that three of the main characters were on the scene at the time, causing us to go back and rethink so much of what has happened. Who is protecting who and why are suddenly much larger questions with deeper meaning.

7. Pretty Little Liars - CeCe/Charlotte/Charles is A!

The A reveal of CeCe, formerly Charlotte, formerly Charles de Laurentis as the person who had been terrorizing the girls for years on Pretty Little Liars. Most people hated it, but some loved it. It all made a lot of sense. There were some lingering plot threads, but they will probably be addressed in Season 6B.

8. The 100 - Lexa Betrays the Alliance

Lexa ditching Clarke at the gates of Mount Weather on The 100 Season 2 after striking a deal to save her own life. It was an excellent twist that forced Clarke on a path of destruction that would find her killing every now Sky Person in the mountain.

9. Mr. Robot - They're All Family?!

Darlene and Edward being Elliot's family on Mr. Robot. That came out of nowhere and was genuinely shocking, especially since it was revealed when Elliot kissed his sister. Ewww.

10. Scream - Piper is the Killer

Piper being revealed as the main killer on Scream. Predictable? Yes, but that whole final episode reminded us of the movies, and it gave the show the jolt it needed to kick things into high gear.

11. Suits - Mike was Arrested

After five seasons of committing fraud Mike was finally arrested on Suits. Of course it happened just after he made the decision to leave his fake law life behind. Life's a bitch sometimes.

12. iZombie - Blaine is Cured!

Blaine getting the cure on iZombie was a really great twist. He was really ferocious as a zombie, and turning human meant he had to pull out all the stops to remain a viable bad guy. Turns out he's got what it takes in any incarnation. As if we ever had a doubt.

13. Empire - Camilla Returns (with a Twist)

There are twists and turns on every episode of Empire, but the reveal in the midseason finale that Camilla was married to Mimi and would be running Empire after Mimi had the board vote out Lucious? That's one nobody saw coming.

14. Scandal - Olivia has an Abortion

It was pretty shocking to see Olivia have an abortion on Scandal, especially considering we didn't even know she was pregnant! The scene came out of nowhere and happened really quickly, but was really well done. There was no dialogue other than Rowan's voice-over, but the blank look on Olivia's face said it all.

15. Grimm - The King is Dead

In the Grimm Season 4 finale, the villainous King Frederick escaped in a helicopter with little Diana in tow. Just as it looked like the king was going to get away with all his evil machinations, his pilot turned around and shoved him out of the helicopter to his death! The pilot was then revealed to be none other than Resistance fighter Meisner, a popular recurring character. Say what you will about Deus ex Machina, it felt awesome for Meisner to give King Frederick his comeuppance.

16. Supergirl - Hank Henshaw is the Martian Manhunter!

Hank Henshaw is Martian Manhunter on Supergirl. While glowing red eyes are usually a bad sign, Supergirl pulled the rug on viewers in the best way possible when it was revealed that the big boss at the DEO was actually the shapeshifting good guy Martian J'onn J'onzz, the Martian Manhunter. This reveal made a lot of fans cheer with joy while leaving the door open for the introduction of the real Hank Henshaw in some other (read: villainous) capacity.
