The Sinner First Look: Jessica Biel Loses Herself in Violent Act of Rage

An eight-episode close-ended series, The Sinner follows a young mother (Jessica Biel) who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence and to her horror has no idea why.

The event launches an inverted and utterly surprising crime thriller whose driving force is not the “who” or the “what” – but the “why” – as an investigator (Bill Pullman) finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive.

Together they travel a harrowing journey into the depths of her psyche and the violent secrets hidden in her past. 

It's hard to imagine a beautiful day at the beach ending in a murder you didn't plan, you don't hide and for which you don't have a motive. Doing it in plain site for all to see is only the icing on the cake.

The trailer already paints a portrait of a disturbed woman who is eager to do anything to protect her family in the aftermath of the brutal slaying.
