American Crime Season 2 Episode 4 Review: The Confession

at .

Who else saw that twist coming?

Things started off on a powerful note on American Crime Season 2 Episode 4. It certainly set up the entire episode, and season, on how society views male sexual assault. The final words were exceptionally chilling about the victims not being seen as a person any longer.

Let's not waste anymore time and discuss, "The Confession."

Back to School - American Crime

I kind of understood where Dan was coming from regarding his players. He wanted to believe so badly they would never lie, but he seemed to have forgotten they are teenagers. They don't want to get in trouble. Dan needs to learn to let go of his naive nature and question everything the kids say on his team.

I was, shockingly, on Leslie's side when she was telling Dan they needed to get to the bottom of everything. The school has given the team amply opportunity to speak up and tell the truth, but no one said a thing.

It probably would have been a better idea to have someone like Leslie talk to the team because Dan's approach was a little much.

Dan was mad and wanted it to sink in that the team was in serious trouble, but it could have been handled a little differently. All it did was cause the guys to fight with each other and point fingers. It would have been smarter to go to each player individually and talk with them about what happened.

This is why the school has such a big problem – they don't know how to talk to their students. Talking to them in groups doesn't help matters at all.

This entire situation could have been figured out if the school did a proper investigation in the first place instead of letting it escalate to a police investigation.

Moving on to Kevin, who else wanted to smack Michael when he asked if Eric had to snitch? This has gone beyond snitching on your friends.

Thank goodness Terri saw the bigger picture and know if a statement needed to be made it would be made. At this point in the game Kevin needs to protect himself especially is he did nothing wrong.

I wasn't really shocked when Terri refused to help out Eric's father. It really is every man for himself when it comes to this case.

I imagine there's going to be a lot of back and fourth going on. At least Michael was willing to give Eric's father the name of some lawyers and reminded him Eric needs to tell his side of the story.

Speaking of Eric, Joey Pollari did a fantastic job tonight. I could feel Eric's pain and see the wheels turning in his head thinking the only way out was killing himself. Eric has so many things going on in his life and his back has been up against the wall since the sexual assault came out.

I was furious with the way Dan treated Eric after he went in saw him in the hospital. This is a kid in need of help and guidance and Dan just turns his back on him.

Of course the most shocking moment came when it was revealed Eric and Taylor had planned to have sex with each other and there were texts/emails to confirm it.

I have always had a feeling Taylor was either gay or bisexual. Now the question remains, did a sexual assault really happen or is there more to this story?

Anne's reaction to the texts and emails was hard to watch. I know Anne was angry, and she wanted the truth, but she could have waited until Evy was gone to confront Taylor.

Anne's anger only served to bring up more questions. Why did Anne leave Taylor? Did something happen to Taylor when he was younger? Did Taylor really lie?

In the end, I figured Leslie was going to spin the correspondence between Taylor and Eric to her advantage.

She's trying to save her school, but she's going about it in all the wrong ways. There's something terrible wrong at her school and it needs to be fixed quickly.
