The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6 Review: Dr. Lewis Powell

at .  Updated at .

Well, I don't like her. Agent Park, that is.

The introduction of a new character on The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6 came completely out of the blue.

Obviously, there was going to be a replacement for Samar at some point, but this was totally unexpected.

And if the show's goal was to give us a character to like less than many of us like Liz -- well, they succeeded.

There is not one redeeming quality about this new member of the team. Not one.

She's abrasive, loud, a know-it-all, and aggravating in every way. And she's also a psychopathic badass. Just the kind of person Red likes -- which is why she's now part of the team.

Except she has a secret, and it's a big one, according to her. So big that neither Red or Liz or the Task Force, in general, might not like.

Is it possible it might have something to do with Katarina? That's the only kind of secret that would be shocking enough to turn any of them off -- especially Red.

The other thing is that Aram doesn't like her, but that's for other reasons that we'll get to later because, well, he's a mess. And we need to talk about that.

Discussing Samar - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

Red had another candidate in mind with Francesca, but she turned out to be a traitor. At least it wasn't Vontae.

With all the craziness this hour, Vontae turning on Red would have been too much to handle.

But first, let's talk about Clark, Blacklist's version of Alexa -- sort of -- and the case of the week.

Aram Has a Competitor - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

A.I. isn't anything new. There was a movie many years ago called "2001: A Space Odyssey" that was similar to how this storyline went.

It seemed the storyline was a way to get Park and Aram together, but it was Aram who pushed her out even though she blamed Red.

And then, of course, everything turned around.

I still don't like her even with all her viciousness.

And Francesca was a disappointment, but it was obvious when she and Red were in the car together that Red had her figured out.

One takeaway from the "deep fake" storyline was that there's obviously some deep fake stuff going on in Red's world.

He didn't give the case to the Task Force because he had nothing better to do with his time.

Liz Thinks - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

There was a reason -- maybe it was for the audience -- or maybe it was a way for Red to get closer to finding where Katarina might be hiding.

Either way, it served its purpose for Red in that it exposed Francesca as the traitor she was.

Back to Park for a moment.

It's strange that she felt so adamantly about not being able to work with Red.

Yet, she was surprised when Liz told her Red wanted her to get the job.

So, there's something else going on there whether she's some sort of infiltrator or something else, none of it feels right.

For a moment, I thought maybe she was part of Red's team all along, but that didn't prove true.

Not a Traitor - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

Still, Red seemed a bit too eager to get her aboard when he doesn't know everything about her except that she's brutal.

Anchorage is the key. Will it change his mind or does he already know her secret?

If he knows Park's deep secret then it's still ridiculous that he doesn't know where Katarina is hiding.

We didn't see Katarina -- except for the deep fake (who, by the way, Francesca should have realized wasn't Katarina at all) -- but, as has been mentioned in previous The Blacklist reviews, knowing where Katarina is hiding should be as difficult for Red as it has been.

Ressler Has a New Friend - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

It's all very strange, and this hour brought it all home.

Red's behavior -- or lack of insight -- isn't the only weirdness happening on The Blacklist.

Aram is completely off course.

His relationship with Elodie needs to end. She's odd in every way, and her excuse that she needs to "feel alive inside" which is why she's bringing him along on all these bizarre adventures is out of place.

I don't like her, and I don't trust her, either.

It's possible -- though unlikely -- that Red might have brought this woman into his life as a way for Aram to get over Samar.

But, he's doing things that are far above his character's paygrade.

It's not that Aram should continue to be his bumbling, awkward self, but doing the risky things he's doing with Elodie is not fun to watch.

The Traitor - The Blacklist Season 7 Episode 6

It's one thing for him to have had a one-night stand with a married woman, but for it to continue is too much.

He needs to break it off and move onto something else.

And, please, don't let it be Park.

Those two are like oil and water even if they are the smartest people on the planet.

Besides, does Aram need to get involved with another agent who has kickass skills like Samar?

We saw how that ended. It didn't work, and Aram and Park won't work either.

What really needs to happen is giving Dembe more scenes and a bigger role in everything in this show.

His interplay with the torture guy (yes, I forget his name always) about not having ice cream to go along with the dessert was hilarious.

Dembe always makes everything better, doesn't he?

That scene ranked right up there with the one where he was playing charades or whatever with that one couple on The Blacklist Season 6

Remember that? It was hilarious.

Whatever course The Blacklist is taking with Park and her secret and Aram and Elodie needs to get straightened out.

We can only hope that the weirdness has a part in the overall story of Raymond Reddington.
