Director Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster) has released a new trailer on Twitter for TNT's highly anticipated limited suspense drama, I Am the Night, starring Chris Pine (Wonder Woman, Star Trek).

So excited to share this trailer for #IAmTheNight, starring the most amazing Chris Pine and @IndiaEisleyLife. This story was dying to be told and we loved telling it. Can’t wait for you all to see! Premieres January 28! @IAmTheNightTNT

Written by Sam Sheridan and inspired by true events, I Am the Night tells the gripping story of Fauna Hodel (India Eisley of Secret Life of the American Teenager), a teenage girl who is given away at birth, and grows up outside of Reno, Nevada.

I Am the Night 1

Fauna lives more-or-less comfortably with the mysteries of her origin, until one day she makes a discovery that leads her to question everything.

As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she meets a ruined reporter (Chris Pine), haunted by the case that undid him.

Together they follow a sinister trail that swirls ever closer to an infamous Los Angeles gynecologist, Dr. George Hodel (Tony Award Winner Jefferson Mays), a man involved in some of Hollywood’s darkest debauchery, and possibly, its most infamous unsolved crime. We're lookin' at you Black Dahlia!

Other cast include Leland Orser (Berlin Station) as Peter Sullivan, Yul Vazquez (Midnight, Texas) as Billis, Dylan Smith as Sepp, Golden Brooks (Girlfriends) as Jimmy Lee, Justin Cornwell (Training Day) as Terrence Shye, Jay Paulson (Mad Men) as Ohls and Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman) as Corinna Hodel.

I Am the Night 2

Jenkins directs I Am the Night, which is written by Sheridan.

The series is produced by Turner's Studio T, with Jenkins, Michael Sugar (13 Reasons Why), Pine and Sheridan serving as executive producers. Carl Franklin (House of Cards, Homeland) and Victoria Mahoney (Claws ) each direct two episodes.

This limited series is of great interest to me because of its tie-in to the harrowing Black Dahlia case.

If you've never read about it, be sure to tune into I Am the Night because your interest will be piqued and you will soon be starved of history from the era if you have any at all in true crime.

The nature of the crime, the victim, and that is has remained unsolved for closing in on a century (OK, I'm stretching it) makes any and all references to it utterly fascinating.

Will this be a series on your list? Let us know in the comments below!

I Am the Night premieres Monday, January 28, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) .
