Yes, that means we're going to be catching up Jack McCoy to find out what he's been up to since we last saw him all those years ago.

He most recently appeared on Law & Order: SVU Season 11, so we think it's fair to say there are going to be a lot of changes in store for the character.

The episode is scheduled to air in the second half of the show's upcoming season, and executive producer Julie Martin revealed during a press event for the series that the script has yet to be written.

Waterson played McCoy on the original series for an unprecedented 16 seasons.

Since leaving the Law & Order franchise behind, Waterson has appeared in The Newsroom and more recently, Grace and Frankie.

He still serves as a series regular on the latter which was recently renewed for a fourth season by Netflix.

It was previously announced that Philip Winchester was moving over to SVU as his Chicago Justice character, Peter Stone.

He was a series regular on the fourth entry in the Chicago franchise, but NBC pulled the plug on that series back in May after so-so ratings.

Will Chase, Annabeth Gish, and Brooke Shields are also tapped to appear on the new season of the procedural drama which debuts Wednesday, September 27 on NBC.
