Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 17 Review: Black is the Widow

There is no doubt in my mind that Miggins is going to become a reality sooner rather than later.
It wouldn't even surprise me if it happened before the end of Magnum P.I. Season 1.
It won't be a full-blown romance, but Magnum and Higgins will come to the conclusion that they are attracted to each other but will not know how to deal with their feelings and will set them aside until they finally come together when the series ends.
The fact that Magnum found himself deeply attracted to Abby on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 17 is proof positive of this theory.
If anyone else didn't notice, Abby was a brunette Higgins.

Abby's interests might have aligned with Magnum's perfectly, but that's going to grow old fast.
There's truth to the old saying that opposites attract.
What's even more ironic is that Higgins went out with a baseball player.
I don't think she accepted his date because she is actually interested in him.
She did it to learn more about Magnum and possibly even to make him jealous.
I know I've been wavering on #Miggins mostly because I wasn't too fond of how desperate Higgins seemed on Magnum P.I. Season 1 Episode 16, but she played it better this hour.
And I'm still surprised no one else on the team hasn't picked up on it yet.
Kumu knows for sure, but Rick and T.C. might not be paying close enough attention. I even think Katsumoto senses something.
Speaking of Katsumoto, I'm really liking him having a bigger role in Magnum's cases. He's become an integral part of Magnum's team, and the dynamic he has with all of them works well.
I don't understand exactly why Magnum didn't want to be part of Cleo's takedown, or why Katsumoto went to Cleo's place on his own.
All I know is that Katsumoto had another chance to show off his badassness, and I liked it!
Even if T.C., Rick, Magnum, and Higgins hadn't shown up, I have full faith Katsumoto would have found a way out of his predicament.
He' a smart guy and has been a cop forever so he would have figured it out.
I wonder if he likes the new excitement his life has now that Magnum is in it, or if he wishes it would go back to normal?
I find that hard to believe. Magnum may be an irritant, but he has added value not only to Katsumoto's life but to Higgins' as well.
And as far as Katsumoto is concerned, Magnum has been an asset.
If it wasn't for Magnum, there would still be plenty of unsolved cases in the Hawaii P.D.'s files.

Magnum might not always follow the rules, but he's able to get things done that the police haven't been able to do.
I know I sound contradictory because I have said in previous reviews that Magnum gets away with too much, and he does.
But there is somewhat of a balance even if it still favors Magnum.
But one thing is for certain: when Magnum makes friends, he makes them for life.
T.C. and Rick wouldn't have stuck by him all these years if Magnum wasn't a good guy.
They've realized that his good qualities far outweigh his faults.
Besides, Magnum is a lot of fun.
Higgins might have found Rick and T.C's version of Magnum's dating profile annoying and unrealistic, but those two were having a blast with it!
Do you ever wonder how Magnum is able to convince so many other people to do all his work for him?
It blows my mind. It's not that Magnum is manipulative in the least.
Other people actually want to do his stuff for him -- even Higgins.

It must be part of his charm.
The case itself was one of the more interesting of the series so far.
I never suspected the daughter, and Abby would have been too easy which only left us with Cleo.
Still, I didn't suspect her although looking back it was clear that she was the culprit especially when Magnum's phone went missing.
And as is par for the course, Magnum P.I. is able to put out all the feels at the end.
It didn't make any sense why Roland wouldn't have left his daughter any money upon his death -- until we found out the reason why.
He left her the greatest gift, and it was heartwarming reveal as always.
