He continued, "I did my best. Just know that, like with Precious or with Empire … The Butler, Monster’s Ball, the next thing I do is going to be Star. It will exist in all of my work. I love you, all of the fans that have supported us.”

Take 3 - Star Season 2 Episode 1

Star Season 3 averaged 3.5 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating, so there was an audience there.

The cancellation became possible after Fox became an independent broadcaster, meaning the network had to make new deals to keep all shows around.

The cast of Star included Jude Demorest as Star Davis, Brittany O’Grady as Simone Davis Rivera, Ryan Destiny as Alex Crane Jones, Amiyah Scott as Cotton Brown, Quincy Brown as Derek Jones, and Queen Latifah as Carlotta Renee Brown.

The show does exist in the same universe as Empire, so it's possible that there could be a wrap-up of sorts during an episode of Empire Season 6.
