Suits: Patrick J. Adams Returning for Final Season - What About Meghan Markle?

Suits will be bringing back an original series regular before the legal drama comes to a close.

According to Deadline, Patrick J. Adams will reprise the role of Mike Ross on Suits Season 9 Episode 5.

His return will put him up against his best friend, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler.

“He doesn’t exactly know that Samantha is going to be involved when he comes back, but he does know Harvey is going to be,” Aaron Korsh told the website.

On top of that, there will be “some fun scenes and some emotional scenes with Mike and the old gang. He will interact with more than Harvey and Samantha.”

“I couldn’t be happier to be part of the final chapter of Suits. I’ve missed my TV family, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Mike Ross can stir up at the firm one last time,” Adams revealed to Deadline.

Adams departed alongside on-screen love interest, Meghan Markle at the close of Suits Season 7.

The pair left New York behind to run their own firm in Seattle, and while there were reports that Adams could return for an appearance during Suits Season 8, it did not happen.

Korsh revealed that there are no plans to bring Markle back into the mix at this stage, and it makes sense.

The actress married Prince Harry last year, they and recently welcomed their first child into the world. It doesn't seem like the perfect time for Markle to return to the world of acting.

Deadline also notes that Adams is expected to pop back up for the series finale, which is slated to air later this year.

"The final season of SUITS picks up with Manhattan corporate law firm, Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams, facing uncertainty and change yet again after Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) took the fall with the Bar Association to save Harvey (Gabriel Macht)," according to the network's official logline.

"After his sacrifice, Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl) is left reeling from the loss of her mentor, and while trying to console her, Harvey realizes that he doesn't want to lose the most important person to him: Donna (Sarah Rafferty)."

"Season 9 will follow the legendary lawyer and COO balance their relationship with work, as they fight to salvage the firm's tarnished reputation alongside their partners, Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), Alex Williams (Dulé Hill), Katrina Bennett (Amanda Schull), and Samantha."

"As the season progresses, our core characters' personal lives will be explored more deeply than ever before, setting up the series conclusion, in which everyone will finally be forced to decide exactly who they are and what kind of lawyers they want to be."
