Georgia calls Helen for help after Max collapses. Helen talks her through a tracheotomy. A helicopter brings Max to New Amsterdam. Helen tells everyone about Max's condition and prepares everyone for jos arrival.

Fulton takes over as medical director with Max down. He is disappointed that Helen allowed Max to run the hospital while sick. No one is pleased.

The nurses strike for their reproductive rights. Fulton wants to stop it, but Iggy leads them on. Iggy also questions Ella's motives when he hears she took money from Kapoor.

There are a series of Max and Georgia flashbacks to the day they met, their first date, proposal, and why they separated.

Floyd defies Fulton and performs a surgery on his patient anyway and charges it to the clinic.

They figure out what else is wrong with Max when she kisses him. They treat him and he wakes up. Everyone is happy.

He tells everyone that he will have to put his family first and take chemo. The others want him to still remain medical director. Georgia tells them that he is staying. They all agree to step up and help him run the hospital including Fulton.
