Elizabeth wants a town library. Nobody wants to pay for a town library.

Henry hasn't been at work because he's been rounding up more oil discovery rights. For a measly $200 he's getting the rights to all of the townsfolk properties.

Everyone in school is sporting new clothes and such because of the discovery money.

Elizabeth is teaching math. Oh the excitement!

Carson and Faith are chatting about what she really likes. Bacon, jam, and a certain doctor.

Carson wonders if Faith ever wrote to her father. She didn't know what to say after being out of touch for so long. The look on his face is concerning.

Florence gets a job as an operator. She's quite chatty, and Bill wonders what the heck.

By the time the call gets through to Bill, Lee has already walked over to discuss his issue. 

Meanwhile, Florence is all aflutter about Kurt Lawson locking his gate. Lee needs to get through there in order to get his lumber through.

A customer visits Clara with the desire for a dress. Rosemary promises quick turnaround on dresses much to the dismay of Clara.

Rosemary assures her she can handle it.

Henry and Leland bump into each other. Leland wishes Henry would just give Lawson an option. No go from Henry.

Allie doesn't do her work in her group so she gets all of her math problems right, but her group could have really used her help. Elizabeth is disappointed.

Mr. Lawson wants to charge a toll for the dude who who comes through the gate. 

Rosemary continues to promise more than she may be able to deliver.

Fiona wants Florence to stop the personal talk with callers.

Rosemary is worried about her health because something's not right. She gets a clean bill of health from Carson and isn't happy about it. Carson suggests talking with Leland to lessen the pain.

Elizabeth runs into Bouchard in town and they chat about the library. He wants her to call him Lucas!

Leland is still worried about the road. Bill is rooting around for a territorial log book. Maybe it will help the situation.

It doesn't seem nearly deep enough to find oil, but when they drop the gizmo the earth shakes. Jesse and Clara are discussing new property when the well comes in. Jesse is angry since the geologist made it sound like there wasn't a chance they'd strike oil.

Bouchard wants to keep his investment with Henry on the downlow. He gets enough attention.

Carson asked Fiona to find a number for him, and she delivers good news.

Florence gets a callf or Rosemary but rings all of the wrong places. She just starts ringing every available phone, then spills her coffee and then ruins the switchboard.

Florence runs out in despair. Fiona thinks she's a natural. It seems like she's been in the communication business for some time. Then she admits she's never had a job before.

Elizabeth tries talking to Nathan about Allie, but he's attending to an issue.

Leland congratulates Henry when he comes by to quit. He thinks Henry should make the most of his second chance because they don't come around very often.

Kurt isn't happy about not getting a piece of the pie. Elizabeth schools him on his behavior.

Elizabeth talks to Nathan about Allie's disengagement from others. She learns Nathan's sister died when Allie was only four. Allie has experienced a lot of loss. She pushes people away before they have a chance to get close to her. She's protecting herself by pushing people away so she doesn't lose them.

Elizabeth tells Nathan to keep on keepin' on and she'll do the same. She won't give up on Allie.

Leland wonders why Bill isn't thinking more about the judgeship. He had a story about childhood. He's not interested in wearing the robe. It's not as flattering as red surge.

Henry drives into town and takes down a "for lease" sign.

Fiona puts through a call from Carson to David Carter. He's talkikng with Faith's dad.

Rosemary sets a dinner table and anxiously awaits Leland's arrival home. He's late. She made pork roast. She brings up the fact they need to discuss something, but he launches into work talk. His day is hard, sure, but he's not seeing Rosemary.

When he asks what she wants to talk about, she puts it off.

Allie is off by herself reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Elizabeth talks with her about moving around a lot. Allie says she likes being alone. She sees the way the other kids look at her. Elizabeth says just to be herself, but it doesn't work. She wants to be alone.

Everyone is angry now when Henry doesn't drill on their land. Since Henry found oil on land he owns, he's not interested in drilling elsewhere and sharing the revenue. But he does remind the guy that he owns mineral rights so even if they drill on their own, it still belongs to Henry.

Allie starts helping the other students with their math.

Carson brings Faith into the store. She's afraid to talk with her father, but Carson has already felt out the call on the other end.
