How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10 Review: Everything We Did Was For Nothing

It takes a lot to shock me.

I've watched so much TV that I think of the craziest possible outcome that it dampens the actual reveal when it inevitably occurs.

The final scene of How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10 shocked me to the core.

A Headache - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

We've heard about Laurel's mother here and there ever since the series debuted.

Now, we're finally getting to meet her, but what connection did she have to Dominick? Could Jorge not be the villain he's been painted as?

Could Laurel's mother be the mastermind behind all of the sketchy things going on with Antares? God, this show knows how to throw a twist in when you least expect it.

Every time things seem to be slowing down, the crazy is cranked up a few notches, and everything moves along at a brisk pace. It's sheer insanity.

Anything - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

With Mrs. Castillo having bipolar disorder, it made sense that Jorge had a case. On How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 9, he had that legal document painting Laurel in the worst possible light.

What if that document was one he had for his wife all those years ago and he just swapped the names out to fit the narrative he was trying to spin?

It would be a stretch, but it would probably fly in court on this show.

The revelation that Frank was the one to cause Laurel to bleed out and deliver the baby in the elevator seemed like a premature assessment on Laurel's part.

What Do We Do? - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

Yes, she admitted that being hit during the scuffle resulted in her giving birth prematurely, but there's no way she knows that's legit. There is such a thing as a coincidence. I'm not buying it until we get medical confirmation.

At least she's out of the hospital, but I don't see how she's going to be able to have Frank around. He must be a constant reminder of what happened to her.

I did like that Laurel took accountability for her actions and apologized to Oliver for dragging him into her mess.

But Oliver is a liability. He's against innocent people getting hurt, and I can get on board with that, but lying about being Simon's boyfriend just to visit him in the hospital?

Arms Folded - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

That's just sheer stupidity, and it's going to come back to bite him. These kids are under a microscope as it is, and having them do these silly things, just makes it easier to rule them as killers.

Oliver is crumbling with the guilt, and it's scary to imagine what he will do when/if Simon passes away. Simon's prognosis is not good. He shot himself in the head, and that's a difficult thing to come back from.

Frank: It's got to be Jorge, which means he doesn't know his guy's dead.
Annalise: Or it leads him right to us.
Frank: It's an Antares phone. Totally untraceable.
Annalise: Get rid of it, Frank.
Frank: Listen.
Annalise: You wanna end up the next dead body around here?
Frank: Oh, who's gonna kill me? You, or Jorge?
Annalise: Well, it's a tossup right now. Destroy it.

If he wakes up, he's likely going to be missing a whole lot of his memory, and that will probably eat Oliver up some more. There's no telling what all of this is going to do to Oliver's relationship with Connor.

Just as the pair get on the same page, something crazy happens, and they are thrown right off track. Meh.

Annalise having the kids help her with her class action lawsuit made sense. She needed to proceed with the case while trying to help Laurel out.

It's Time to Win - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

I was on the fence with her assessment that Laurel could be a danger to herself. It seemed like she was genuinely concerned about her and much of that concern probably stems from the fact that Wes was the father of the kid.

Michaela was right to push Annalise to focus on getting Laurel out of the hospital because it must have been horrid for her to look at those four walls, knowing her son was in another hospital.

However, Michaela made a big mistake by contacting Tegan. Her checking in with Tegan essentially admitted that she and her band of friends were up to something the night Simon got shot.

On How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 9, Tegan implied Michaela was lying to her, and Michaela would have been better to continue to play the innocent card.

We Have a Plan! - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

Tegan knows how cunning Antares can be, and there's no way that threat she gave Michaela at the end of the hour was empty. It is a little bit disheartening that Tegan was acting like she was at the top of her game earlier on How to Get Away with Murder Season 4.

In reality, she was working for a bunch of crooks and implying she had a perfect life.

It was about time Bonnie and Annalise sat down to air their thoughts on everything that's happened. These two have a complicated relationship, and we'll probably never understand just how complicated it is.

Bonnie was mad about the way Annalise dropped her like a hot potato when the going got tough, and that's not surprising. Being fired with a letter from someone who has brought you into a life of crime is not the best.

I'm glad Bonnie addressed her comments about loving Annalise from earlier in the season. There was always an air of mystery surrounding those remarks.

A Stern Look - How to Get Away with Murder Season 4 Episode 10

I think I would have had to give up watching if they were in a relationship at one point. At this point, it seems like all of the characters have been involved with each other.

"Everything We Did Was For Nothing" was another rock-solid episode of this ABC drama. Four seasons in and it's still throwing curveballs at the audience like they're going out of fashion.
