Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6 Review: Broke From the Box

at .

Nicky's got a gun and some heroin, and it's not a good mix.

Nicky finally crossed a major line on Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6, and it may end up being her last hurrah.

Even though Animal Kingdom was recently picked up for Season 4, it doesn't mean that Nicky will be around to join in on the fun. I'm willing to put money on it.

J May Be Free Soon - Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6

I hope she enjoyed shooting up because she just screwed herself in a major way.

J is feeling too much pressure to deal with Nicky's antics. He feels like a trapped bear with nowhere to go, and Nicky's latest antics aren't helping the situation. But I'm sure he also feels guilty about being the one responsible for her being in such a crappy situation.

Loose Ends - Animal Kingdom

The girl has nowhere to go. She's helpless and shooting up gave her a temporary escape to somewhere far, far away from where she currently finds herself.

Unfortunately, playing around with a gun made things worse. I can't believe she was stupid enough to shoot herself in the leg.

When the hospital staff finally finds her outside the hospital's doors where J left her, the cops are going to be calling. She's so high right now, who knows what kind of Cody secrets will spill from her lips.

It's not my fault your family doesn't want you around, Nicky. Jesus. Can you blame 'em?

J

And she's going to be pissed that J left her there and took off. This isn't going to turn out well for anyone unless she dies, but there's always the possibility that she'll open her mouth before she succumbs anyway.

If she does die, it's going to send J into more of a downward spiral than he already is. He's going to feel guilty for not leaving with her as she suggested. He's going to feel guilty about everything.

Pope Gets a Visit - Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6

I don't know why J didn't take her up on getting the hell out of Dodge. There's no way he feels that indebted to Smurf to continue doing her bidding. There has to be some other reason why he's sticking around.

J might have a plan, but maybe not. Maybe he's just a dumb kid who is just too afraid to walk away. Maybe he thinks if he does, Smurf will come looking for him and won't stop until she does. And we know that's exactly what she'd do.

J doesn't want to spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder, but if he sticks around, he's going to end up just like the other Cody boys -- a slave to Master Smurf.

He's already more than halfway there. If I could reach into the television screen and slap him silly, I would. J needs to wake up, and he needs to do it soon. Stupid kid. He just put his family in an even more treacherous situation then they were before.

Everybody is watching them. The cops. Mia. Billy. Children and Family Services. Other families. They're vultures circling their prey because they all know the end of the Codys is coming, and they all want their piece of the pie when the time comes.

The boys made a huge mistake in going after that other family. I can't believe that with everything going on they made that kind of stand. It's enough that they're doing jobs, but to attack another family to send a message was stupid and reckless.

If they go along with Billy's idea to hit a pot shop, then it's all over. It seems like easy money, but they need to take a step back before they jump. Deran didn't tell the rest of them it was Billy's idea, but he will. At least I hope he will.

Daddy Has a Plan - Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6

There's no proof they can trust Billy yet. I'm hoping Pope will bring that to their attention. If Pope finds out Billy is a heroin addict, that will be the end of it, but something tells me he won't find out. Deran might not share all the information, including the fact that Billy used to work there which is a major red flag.

Deran is another lost soul. His mother hates him, and while he might be resisting Billy's charms right now (or at least pretending to), deep down he wants to have a connection with his dad because it's part of his identity.

Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 5 Review: Prey

And he wants to stick it to Smurf as much as he can. What better way than to form a relationship with someone Smurf despises?

Pope should have kicked Billy and his girlfriend out of the house as soon as they arrived -- like he wanted. Now, they're all stepping into a pile of cow manure and are going to drown in it.

They all need to open their eyes before it's too late.

Over to you.

What do you think will happen to Nicky? Why won't J break away from Smurf?

Will Pope be able to keep Lena? Should the Codys hit the pot shop with Billy?

Animal Kingdom Season 3 Episode 6 Quotes

Jail Girl: Got any pictures of you boys, Smurf? They're fine.
Smurf: No.
Jail Girl: Oh, c'mon. Not even hanging over your bed.
Smurf: Not even over my bed.
Jail Girl: Oh, yeah? Why is that?
Smurf: Because I wouldn't want this shithole to start feeling like home.

Pope: I have to find you a doctor.
Lena: Why? I'm not sick.
Pope: Not that kind of doctor. It's the kind of doctor that you talk to. There are some kind of doctors that you talk to when you feel mad or sad. They talk to you.
Lena: Why?
Pope: Because it's supposed to help you not feel mad or sad anymore.
