On Chicago Med Season 5 Episode 2, Natalie returns to work, but her first day back is extra stressful because of a power failure.

At first, Natalie's main source of stress is Lanik, who thinks she's not ready to return and wants her to work only a half day. He tells her to bring a gunshot patient to the OR, which she realizes is a way to keep her from actually practicing. But then the power goes out and it is up to her to save the patient while stuck in an elevator.

Elsewhere, Noah disapproves when Dr. Marcel scares an elderly patient into consenting to a bypass, but Marcel says the bypass is the only way to save the man's life. Soon, Noah must scrub in and help manually pump the man's heart during the procedure because of the power failure.

Halstead sees three girls from a soccer team who develop a seizure disorder, and when Maggie collapses while tending to them he becomes more convinced they are dealing with a superbug. Dr. Charles, however, thinks this is psychological and asks for time to treat the girls himself.
